Volunteering in my Robotics Community
FIRST Lego League (FLL)
Mentor for Elementary Robotics Teams at R.L. Beattie
Sept. 2019 to Jan. 2023
- My obsession with innovation began in elementary school when I built LEGO robots and competed in the FIRST Lego League (FLL) competition in grades 4 to 6.
- In grade 9, I returned to my elementary school to mentor 14 young engineers in grades 4 and 5 to help them win our regional competition and the core values award.
- As a mentor, I helped the students discover their passion for engineering and inspired them to continue with robotics, just like how FLL blossomed my love for robotics at their age.
- Last year, I organized high school robotics students as mentors to help the new elementary students and teachers rebuild their 70-kid after-school robotics program after a two-year hiatus and to prepare them for the FLL regional competition.

Engineering, Design, Innovation, Technology (EDIT) Education Program
Lead & Mentor of my Middle School’s Robotics Program
Feb. 2022 to May 2023
- I developed and implemented FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) curriculum materials for grades 7 and 8 math and science courses for Sudbury’s Rainbow District Public schools.
- In grade 11, I mentored 90 students and 3 teachers to build 12 curriculum-based FTC REV Kit robots and drive them using block programming.
- By incorporating robotics into their curriculum, the students learned the importance of problem-solving methodology skills, communication skills, and teamwork at an early age.
